Our treatment team includes board-certified physicians, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and therapists with specialized training in addiction medicine – a caliber of care that is rare for addiction treatment centers. Physicians are on-site, guiding and providing treatment for each patient.
With an average age of 45, the majority of individuals seeking treatment at PSI are adults with established careers. Our discreet, supportive environment enables professionals to recover among peers who have been through similar challenges and can relate. Many of our alumni keep in touch and continue to support each other in recovery long after treatment.
We are experienced in working with state boards, licensure departments, caduceus groups, employers, referral sources and other professional health programs to help individuals transition safely back into the workplace. We treat a wide range of addicted professionals including physicians, nurses, attorneys, executives, pilots, dentists, athletes and more.

Leading our extraordinary team is Dr. Daniel Angres, a nationally recognized expert in psychiatry, addiction and substance abuse treatment, and physicians’ health programs. Triple board certified in Addiction Medicine, Psychiatry and Neurology, and Addiction Psychiatry, Dr. Angres also serves as Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, lectured at major academic medical centers, and authored groundbreaking books on substance abuse treatment and recovery, including "Healing the Healer" and "Positive Sobriety."
Dr. Angres is also the recent recipient of the Innovation in Physician Wellness Award from the Illinois Psychiatric Society.
Our comprehensive intake assessment gets at the root of behavior, uncovers hidden issues and ensures an accurate diagnosis. The evaluation encompasses medical history, substance use patterns, physical and mental health, personality testing and genetic testing. The information is used to recommend an individualized treatment plan incorporating the most effective medical, psychiatric and therapeutic strategies for each patient.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Chicago combines the rigor of residential substance abuse treatment, while allowing patients the flexibility of returning home at night.
With day and evening hours available, the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers substance abuse treatment in a comfortable and convenient location.
