Katie Sleman, LCPC, M.Ed
Katie is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University, and is also a Nationally Certified Counselor. Currently, Katie is a Primary Therapist at Positive Sobriety Institute, where she facilitates daily group therapy, as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills groups. Katie’s background is in both non-profit case management as well as private practice specializing in substance and process addiction, trauma, adjustment disorders, and depression and anxiety. She is also fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and received intensive training in psychodrama at Onsite.
Katie has experience working with late adolescents, adults, and individuals with chronic health issues, in both group and individual settings. Katie utilizes a strengths-based approach using Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. She believes in the importance of mindful balance in life and loving kindness to self are the basis for long term healing and happiness.
