Jennifer D. Byrne LCSW, CADC,
is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She received her Master’s in Social Work from the Jane Addams School of Social Work at University of Illinois Chicago. Currently, Jennifer leads small group therapy and experiential groups at Positive Sobriety Institute, and she has also spent time conducting clinical assessments with our admissions team. She has been in the addiction recovery field for more than 20 years.
Jennifer has extensive experience working with adults and adolescents in a variety of settings, including challenging populations in the criminal justice and child welfare systems. She has also worked with veterans and teens in crisis. Her previous work experience includes The Harbour, Inc., Hines VA Hospital Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, TASC, Inc. and Children’s Home and Aid Society. Jennifer incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, Positive Psychology and Motivational Interviewing in her approach to therapy. Her background includes work with trauma, anxiety, adjustment, depression and grief in addition to addiction and recovery. Her experiential groups include topics like gratitude, visualization, positive recollections, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. She believes in approaching patients at PSI with empathy and support and in helping them develop their “recovery self” in a positive and empowered way.
